Milan Vukmirovic and his Army of Love at Ports 1961 Fall 2017 Milano Men’s Fashion Week

Love is in the air? Maybe. For sure “Love” was everywhere at the last Ports 1961 Fall – Winter 2017 collection showed at Milan Men’s Fashion Week this morning. A young and minimalistic collection inspired by the personal story of the designer, Milan Vukmirovic.

Asymmetric sportswear creations and contemporary shapes marked a collection that was confident and forceful.

Men like warriors, deep in a metropolitan environment: Vukmirovic declined the concept of “armour” creating garments that can protect, that can make the people feel warm, surrounded by love. Literally. This word, printed on the clothes in Chinese, Japanese, English, Arabic and Russian, is the concept behind the work of the designer and contains in itself a fresh reflection about the changes in today’s world. At the same time the collection was an irrational flow of emotions.

The white shirts and black t-shirts are decorated with the embroidery of the vital organ, the heart. The materials were sober and solid with raw edging.

The designer played with the masculine nature shaping a clinical elegance that recalls the irregular cuts from the Japanese deconstructivism.

Among the inspirations the designer listed music, the Nineties and London fashion scene.

Reversible bomber jackets, studded blousons with buckles and harness straps. Colour blocks in black, grey, red and orange.
