Portrait of a garçonne effrontée. The fall-winter 2020 collection’s backstage

Harmonious juxtapositions of romantic refinement and tomboyish independence. Giambattista Valli keeps on exploring the complex personality of the contemporary Parisian woman, combining her signature delicate elegance with masculine wardrobe pieces of subtle military influences.

Romantic florescences spill over sheer tulle dresses and masculine coats, as a nod to ancient Maissen porcelain tea sets.
In a prevalence of macaron pink hues and blacks, mademoiselle capes get equipped with oversize metallic buttons and military flashes; minimal moiré silk pieces are embellished with bows; consistent, structured tailored suits contrast with sheer, dreamy looks of embroidered lace and alluring off-the-shoulder draped dresses. To complete the collection, some bouclé wool twinsets – reminders of Chanel – are interpreted in a totally personal style, alongside a jubilation of ostrich feathers, volants and tulle aplenty, for an authentic old-fashioned charm, just like a muse leaping out of a Henri Cartier-Bresson photography.
