Jonathan Anderson’s Fall/Winter 2018 collection

Along the Loewe‘s catwalk, several hardcover editions of classical novels such as “Don Quixote”, “Madame Bovary”,”Heart of darkness” and “Dracula” were left on every seat. On the cover wraps, the pictures of the Spanish brand’s Fall 2018 campaign, shot by Steven Meisel. It’s Jonathan Anderson‘s message: “Classicism is always there… sometimes you change the cover and make it relevant for today.”

The Loewe Fall 2018 collection show was accompanied by a soundtrack that conveyed the idea of mindfulness and virtue, making us remember how happy and simple life can be when we connect with the human being inside of us. “The idea was, kind of take out the noise,” Jonathan Anderson said backstage after his show. “I want it to be about the confidence to do what is right for this brand, blocking out everything else.”

The lineup was made of a preponderance of every kind of outerwear pieces for every occasion. There are so many different looks just as many different women Anderson addresses to. Beautiful, well-thought-out and well-crafted classic clothes are the result of his careful consideration of the women who will wear his creations. He wanted to emphasize the Loewe’s mastership in leather working, with a full use of it throughout his lineup.

Cut in vertical strips, the leather generates pleats that enlarge the dresses silhouettes at the bottom and radiate through skirt and sleeves. Leather is also in the contrasting-coloured inserts of airy fluid pied-de-poule dresses.

Classical suits are given highly functional pieces, as big external pockets; the arms of a tweed jacket slit vertically conferring it the aspect of a cape.
